About Us
Mitchell Communications is a 2-way radio Sales and Service Company with main headquarters located in Akron, Ohio. Our primary service area is an approximate 40-mile radius of Akron. We perform repairs on all types of commercial/Industrial and Public Safety radio equipment at our service facility and at customer’s locations . We sell popular major brands of radios including Icom, Motorola and Vertex Standard as well as accessories, batteries and antennas. We also service Outdoor Warning Sirens. We perform installation of Mobile radio and warning equipment in Emergency Vehicles.
History:
Established in June 1968 by Roy Sr. and Wilma Mitchell, the business was originally operated out of a pickup truck with test equipment in a camper body. Most of the service was done on the road. As the business grew, it moved into a rented service garage on Mogadore Rd. in Akron. In 1976, the building at our current location was purchased. Roy Sr. passed away in 1985 and Wilma retired in 2003. The current owners are Jeff and Gwyn Mitchell.

Our customers include Public Safety Agencies such as The City of Hudson Police, Fire and EMS Departments, Portage County Sheriff and Emergency Management Agency, Metro SWAT, Boston Heights fire and Police, Canal Fulton Fire Dept., Wayne County Emergency Management, The City of Cuyahoga Falls and others.
Our Industrial/business customers include Goodyear, The Babcock & Wilcox Co., Akron Paint and Varnish, GOJO Industries, Emerald Performance Materials. Portage Area Regional Transit, American Medical Response, Lifecare Ambulance and Smith Ambulance.
In the education and Healthcare fields, we are servicing Akron General medical Centers, Robinson Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital medical Center of Akron, Lodi Community Hospital, The Akron Public Schools, NEOUCOM, Manchester Local Schools, Field Local Schools, Coventry Local Schools.
